Former minister Gopal Kanda acquitted in airhostess Geetika Sharma suicide case, know what was the whole matter

Minister of Haryana Gopal Goyal Kanda Today Rouse Avenue Court acquitted in the suicide case of air hostess Geetika Sharma. Geetika Sharma was an air hostess in Gopal Kanda’s airlines company MDLR. He had committed suicide on August 5, 2012 at his Ashok Vihar residence in North Delhi. Point to be noted is that Geetika Sharma In his suicide note, he blamed Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chadha, a senior manager in MDLR Company, for his death.

Accused of abetting Geetika Sharma for suicide

In this 2012 suicide case, the Haryana minister was accused of abetting Geetika Sharma to commit suicide. While hearing the case, Special Judge Vikas Dhul acquitted Gopal Kanda as well as Aruna Chadha. The court said during the hearing that the prosecution failed to prove the allegations leveled against Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chadha. It may be noted that charges under IPC sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 506 (criminal intimidation), 201 (destroying evidence), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 466 (forgery) were made against Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chadha, among others, which could not be proved.

There was also an allegation of rape and unnatural sex

It may be noted that earlier the lower court had framed charges of rape and unnatural sex against Gopal Kanda, but the Delhi High Court had dismissed those charges. When the controversy increased after Geetika Sharma’s suicide, Gopal Kanda had to resign from the post of Home Minister of Haryana. Geetika Sharma wrote in her suicide note that she was harassed because of Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chadha. Geetika Sharma wrote that her trust was broken, she was cheated and that is why she is ending her life. Geetika wrote in the suicide note that Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chadha should be punished for their crime. In 2012, the case of Geetika Sharma became very popular.

Gopal Kanda used to do TV repairing work

Gopal Kanda was a very ambitious person. His family was involved in the business of weighing vegetables. Iron weights are called Kanda in the local language of Haryana, hence this name became the identity of his family. Gopal Kanda started a radio and TV repairing shop in the beginning of his career, but very soon he opened a shoe factory with his brother. During this, his proximity to politicians started increasing. His close relationship with Omprakash Chautala was established. Then Kanda developed a relationship with IAS officers and due to his ambition, he soon became the owner of MDLR Airlines. Gopal Kanda contested the elections in 2009 and became an MLA. At that time, he supported the Congress party which was missing the majority and became the Minister of State in the government of Bhupinder Singh Hooda. But after the suicide of Geetika Sharma in 2012, he had to resign from the post. In 2012 itself, Gopal Kanda was declared absconding by the police. After the bail plea was rejected, Gopal Kanda surrendered dramatically and remained in jail for 18 months. He got bail in 2014. He is currently an MLA from Sirsa assembly seat. Gopal Kanda has been acquitted by the court after 11 years of the suicide case.

Geetika’s mother had also committed suicide

The relationship between Geetika Sharma and Gopal Kanda must have been good in the beginning, the reason being that Gopal Kanda gave her the post of director from hairhostess in his airlines. However, later their relationship deteriorated due to which she left the country and started living in Saudi Arabia. After Geetika’s suicide in 2012, her mother committed suicide in 2013 and Gopal Kanda was also accused of this.

Gopal Kanda’s name was associated with many girls

After Geetika Sharma’s suicide, some girls working in Gopal Kanda’s airlines had come forward and said that Gopal Kanda was very much interested in girls. They used to recruit only girls in their companies. Especially beautiful girls were recruited in Gopal Kanda’s companies. When Gopal Kanda was 17 years old, at the same time, Aruna Chadha had hired her at the behest of Gopal Kanda. At that time he was kept as a trainee. It is said that Geetika Sharma’s entire interview was seen on CCTV with Gopal Kanda. Most of the women employees in his companies were appointed to the top positions. Gopal Kanda also used to run a casino, the responsibility of running which was on the girls only. Gopal Kanda is currently an MLA from Sirsa. He formed the Haryana Lokhit Party.
