The deadlock continues in Parliament regarding the Manipur issue. Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 5 pm on Tuesday amid sloganeering by opposition MPs demanding a discussion on the Manipur issue. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge said that we urge the Prime Minister to come to Parliament and speak on Manipur issue but he is talking about East India Company in his party meeting. Why are they afraid of being named INDIA by the opposition parties?
Kharge further said that he is worried about our successful meetings in Patna and Bengaluru. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become directionless, he does not understand what to do and how to do it. The issue of Manipur is not like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh or West Bengal, it is a much more serious issue. This is a matter of concern for the entire northeastern states of the country. After Manipur, now the situation seems to be deteriorating in Meghalaya, Mizoram. He said that this is also an issue of international security. They are not concerned about the atrocities on women.
What did PM Modi say
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday termed the opposition alliance ‘Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance’ (India) as the most ‘directionless’ alliance the country has ever seen. Citing names like East India Company and Indian Mujahideen, he said that people cannot be misled just by using the name of the country. Prime Minister Modi said these things while addressing the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting.

Several sources present in the meeting said that PM Narendra Modi criticized the opposition amid the ongoing impasse in Parliament and expressed confidence that the ruling NDA is certain to get a third consecutive term after victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi told that the Prime Minister referred to the ‘frustrated and disappointed’ behavior of the opposition.
Home Minister Amit Shah called a meeting on the issue of Manipur
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the only demand of the opposition is that the Prime Minister himself should come and start the discussion. I would like to remind you that when Home Minister Amit Shah had called a meeting on the issue of Manipur, there was no issue of Prime Minister at that time…After that an all-party meeting of the leaders of the House took place. In that also they (Opposition) demanded immediate discussion. It was presided over by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and he immediately accepted the request.
