Los Angeles grew with time and filmmakers made many great films. After which the name Hollywood became famous all over the world. After which it was named Hollywood because English films were made.

Bengali film industry is located in a place called Tollygunge in Kolkata. The term ‘Tollywood’ was coined by the magazine in the early 1930s for the Bengali film industry, much like Hollywood.

The name Bollywood was changed from the ‘H’ of Hollywood to ‘B’, which is the first letter of Bombay. It became popular in the 1970s, when the Hindi film industry became the largest in the world in terms of the number of films produced, overtaking Hollywood.

Ollywood is used in Odisha, Mollywood in Kerala for Malayalam film industry, Kollywood for Tamil cinema. The name Sollywood was kept for Sindhi film industry and Lollywood for Punjabi films.

The term Dhallywood or Dhallywood is used for the Bangladeshi film industry based in Dhaka city. Carrywood is the name used for the Pakistani film industry based in the city of Karachi.
