‘Make in India’ started in 2014
In response to a question on cars made in Russia, Putin said that you know, we did not have domestically manufactured cars at that time, but now we have them. It’s true that they look modest compared to the Mercedes or Audi cars that we spent huge sums buying in the 1990s. But that is not the point. I think we can emulate many of our partners. India is an example of this. Prime Minister Modi launched the ‘Make in India’ campaign in 2014 to facilitate investment, promote innovation, enhance skill development, protect intellectual property and create best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure. The ‘Make in India’ initiative is based on four pillars, which have been recognized to promote entrepreneurship in India not only in manufacturing but also in other sectors.
