New Delhi : The Modi government at the Center will start working on a research center from next year to manufacture semiconductors used in electric vehicles and electric appliances. For this, the government will also take cooperation from industry and education world. According to a report in news agency Bhasha, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will start work on Semiconductor Research Center from next year in collaboration with industry and academia for indigenous manufacturing of semiconductors in India.
Research center will be built on the advice of semiconductor world
Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrashekhar on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is that Indians should be included in the leadership of semiconductor research. Union Minister Chandrashekhar said that a group of top people from the semiconductor world across the world and across the country have sat together and worked to prepare the Bharat Semiconductor Research Centre.
Global Institute of Semiconductor Research to be established in India
After presenting the report to the government by the committee of experts, Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar said that the proposed Bharat Semiconductor Research Center will be a global institute for semiconductor research. He said that the design, the area on which it should focus etc. all the things have been kept in the report. I hope that work on this institute will start in the year 2024. He said that Bharat Semiconductor Research Center will become one of the leading semiconductor research institutes in the next four-five years.
Agreement signed during PM Modi’s US visit
Let us tell you that during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to America in June this year, three major American semiconductor companies had signed agreements and announced investment in India. After this, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal had said that the way for semiconductor manufacturing in India has been cleared. India and the US have signed an agreement to establish a semiconductor supply chain during the India-US Fifth Commercial Dialogue 2023, which can greatly help India realize its dream of becoming a hub of electronics goods.
Where are semiconductors used?
Semiconductor means semiconductor. It is used to control current. Semiconductors are actually made from silicon, which are in chip form. At present, semiconductors are used in all the cars available in the market. Semiconductors are widely used in all electronic devices, such as mobile phones, digital cameras, communication equipment, trains, ATMs, etc. Semiconductors in cars are used in high-efficiency engine elements along with heads-up displays, sensors, cellphone and communications integration. Semiconductors are used in all the expensive cars currently available in the auto mobile market. These are used to control the current and it is useless to imagine current cars without them.
