In Sanatan Dharma, there is a rule to keep a copper or brass urn, but clay urns are also kept. Every day for nine days of puja, Ganga water, Panchamrit, Sarvaushadhi and Mahaushadhi water are poured into it. Mother Durga is worshipped. Pandit Ramdev Pandey explains that Adishakti is worshipped, who has created the universe. Navadurga Shakti is worshiped for nine days during Navratri. Panchadev, who symbolizes the five elements of nature, is also worshipped. During the puja, the sound emanating from the recitation of Durga Saptashati, along with the sound of the bell, flows into the newly sprouted plants of this barley.
