New DelhiDelhi Government has decided to provide financial help to the families who have lost their loved ones due to Corona virus. The Social Welfare Department of the Delhi Government has notified the Chief Minister’s Kovid-19 Family Financial Assistance Scheme on Tuesday. Under this scheme, an assistance amount of 50 thousand rupees will be given to the victim’s family, who lost a member due to corona.
Apart from this, if the deceased was the sole breadwinner in the family, the family would be given a monthly assistance amount of Rs 2500. The scheme was announced by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on 18 May. According to the notification, ‘The government will also consider recruiting one member of the affected family as a civil defense volunteer. In addition, the state commits to meet the health and education needs of dependent children as per the existing policy.
The notification states that both the deceased and the dependent person should be residents of Delhi. Death must be confirmed as having died from covid or death has occurred within one month of being found infected with corona virus. Also, the Health Department has verified the death as a Kovid death.
