Thiruvananthapuram: A 24-year-old woman was found dead inside her house in Sasthamkotta in Kollam district of Kerala. The woman’s family alleges that the husband was torturing her for dowry. Vismaya, a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery student, married Kiran, who is a native of Kollam district and works as an assistant motor vehicle inspector in the motor vehicles department. Both were married last year.
Two days ago, Vismaya had messaged her relative that she was being assaulted for dowry. Her husband Kiran argued over the car given at the wedding, after which she was beaten up. Even photos were shared. In which many small spots are visible on the hands, back, face and shoulders.
In Vismaya’s family, a case has been registered against her husband for murder in the police. He has also been accused of dowry harassment. The Women’s Commission Department of Kerala has also taken suo motu cognizance in this matter. Vismaya’s father says that in the marriage he had given 800 grams of gold, one acre of land, Toyota Aris car in dowry. After which Kiran demanded money in exchange for the car. With this, he used to fight and beat with amazement every day.
Vismaya’s body was found hanging on the noose. After which the police have registered a case of unnatural death, as well as after the arrest of Kiran, she has been suspended. The family demands that Kiran should be tried for murder.
