New Delhi: Responding to the allegation of slow vaccination in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party MLA and spokesperson Atishi said that whenever the youth have got the vaccine in Delhi, the speed of vaccination has increased. There was a time in Delhi when even a single dose of vaccine was not available for the youth for almost two weeks. This reduces the speed of the vaccine.
Atishi said that due to lack of vaccine for youth in Delhi, there are two reasons for the decrease in vaccination speed-
first– More than 50 percent of people above 45 years of age have been vaccinated. That’s why now less than half of the people survive whose vaccination is left. In the second wave of corona in Delhi, the infection rate has been up to 30-35 percent. There are many such people who are not eligible for vaccination because the guidelines of the central government are that after recovering from Kovid for 3 months, you cannot get vaccination.
Second– There are also many people who are hesitant about getting the vaccine. This is the reason why vaccinations above 45 years of age were reduced.
45 above year old 2 more than a month stock– Atishi
Atishi said that we have a vaccination stock of more than 2 months for the age category above 45 years. But now the vaccination of above 45 years of age category has come to a standstill despite going door to door. On the other hand, the vaccine of youth was not available with the Delhi government for a long time. Whenever the stock of vaccination has come to Delhi, then the youth come forward and get themselves vaccinated and the speed of vaccination increases. If we look at the figures of June 21, then 76,062 people have got the vaccine dose in Delhi, out of which about 50 thousand youth have got the vaccine. Because the youth want to come forward and get themselves vaccinated.
The central government never listened to us – Atishi
Atishi says that the Delhi government has been repeatedly telling the central government that there is a vaccine stock available for the age category above 45 years, should it be used for 18 to 44 years? Because the vaccine for the age category above 45 years is ending. The central government repeatedly denied this and kept saying that for the category of 18 years to 44 years, the states would have to buy the vaccine from the companies themselves. Central government stock may not be available. We kept telling the central government time and again that the youth want to get themselves vaccinated. We need more vaccines for them. There the speed of vaccination can increase further. But the central government never listened to us and kept refusing time and again.
According to Atishi, finally today, a day after the launch of a Universal Vaccine Campaign, the Central Government has issued a press release that the vaccine of people above 45 years of age can also be applied for those above 18 years of age. The Delhi government has repeatedly raised its voice that we have not received a single dose of vaccine under this Universal Vaccination Campaign, so finally the central government has clarified this through a press release today. This was a demand that the Delhi government was repeatedly placing before the central government, but that demand was not being accepted.
Center should stop doing politics on vaccination – Atishi
Atishi further said that we request the central government to stop doing politics on vaccination. The country is not going to escape the third wave from politics, press conferences. If the country survives the third wave, then only and only the vaccine dose will be avoided. Therefore, the central government is urged to allow the vaccine of Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson as soon as possible and make the vaccine available to the people of India. The sooner India is vaccinated, the sooner the whole country will be saved from Kovid.
