Delta Plus’ About 40 cases of Swarup came to the fore
Tralaya said in a statement, ‘‘ 45 in India so far, the ministry said in a statement, ‘‘ In India, after sequencing more than 45,000 samples so far, about 40 cases of the delta plus form – AY.1 – have been reported elsewhere in Maharashtra, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh with no significant increase in its presence.’ ;’
As of June 18, 205 sequences of the AI.1 form have been detected worldwide, with 50 per cent of cases detected in the US and UK, the statement said.
‘Indian SARS CoV-2 Genomics Consortium’ (INSACOG) recently identified this form of the virus (Delta, B.1.617.2). This form has also been found in nine other countries of the world. INSACOG is a group of National Laboratories constituted by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. INSACOG is exploring new forms of the virus and their relationship to the pandemic.
