Kolkata: Senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Roy is one of the 14 MLAs who filed nominations for the membership of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the West Bengal Assembly on Wednesday. There is speculation that Roy may be appointed as the chairman of the committee.
BJP also handed over the list
BJP has also submitted a list of six names for PAC membership. Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari said Roy’s nomination had no meaning as his membership of the House would be terminated under the anti-defection law. Party sources said the BJP legislature party is apprehensive that the post of PAC president, whose selection is the prerogative of the Speaker, may go to Roy as there are many instances when Congress MLAs moving to TMC are appointed to important posts.
