New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has gone to Karwar and Kochi on a two-day visit just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s important meeting with the leaders of Kashmir. During this, the Defense Minister will review important projects related to the Navy, including Maritime Theater Command and Indigenous Aircraft Carrier.
Plan to set up Headquarters of Maritime Theater Command
There is a plan to set up Headquarters of Integrated Maritime Theater Command of Navy in Karwar itself. Under this command, all the commands of the Navy and Coast Guard, warships, submarines and aircraft will be there. The office of the Commander of the Maritime Theater Command will also be in Karwar. After Karwar, the Defense Minister will visit the Southern Command of the Navy in Kochi (Kerala). During this, the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, being built by the Kochi Shipyard, is being built. Its construction is going on for many years. However, soon its sea-trial i.e. trial in the sea is likely to start. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will return to Delhi on Friday.
