New Delhi: In the midst of rising heat, the problem of water scarcity is coming to the fore in many areas of Delhi. Regarding this, the Delhi Jal Board held a high level meeting today in which the water supply management of Delhi was discussed, especially in summer. Delhi Jal Board vice-chairman Raghav Chadha held this meeting with chief engineers, senior officers and members of Delhi Jal Board on Thursday. These issues were discussed in the meeting-
- Equal distribution of water available within Delhi through pipes and tankers
- Water shortage and contaminated water at the constituency level
- Setting up of a Rapid Response Team at the MLA and Ward level as well as through social media to address complaints
Instruction to analyze water daily
Vice President Raghav Chadha instructed the officials of Delhi Jal Board to analyze the water received by the Delhi Jal Board every day according to the assembly constituency, how much Water received, what is the difference between demand and supply. The areas from where complaints like dirty water, non-supply of water, less supply of water are received the most, those complaints should be redressed soon. Along with this, he also emphasized on deployment of Rapid Response Team to Chief Engineers and Superintendent Engineers. These people will prepare plans for special action plans after meeting the MLAs of their area and visiting the site. These plans will be given to Jal members for verification and further action. With the implementation of this scheme, it is expected that the number of complaints received by DJB will come down.
Actually flowmeters are necessary to measure the flow of water from a point. These help in water auditing and minimizing leakage losses. and reduce the loss of potable water supply as well as help in proper management. Also help in detecting any possible leak.
