After an all-party meeting with the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed it as an important step towards the development effort. Prime Minister Modi tweeted, “Today meeting with the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir is an important step in the ongoing efforts towards a developed and progressive Jammu and Kashmir.
Prime Minister Modi said- Our priority is to further strengthen the grassroots democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. Delimitation should be done at a fast pace so that elections can be held and J&K gets an elected government which gives strength to the development path of J&K.
In another tweet, the Prime Minister said- The biggest strength of our democracy is the ability to share our views while sitting at a table. I told the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir that the people who provide political leadership to Jammu and Kashmir, especially the youth, have to fulfill their aspirations.

Significantly, during the meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Congress’s Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Tarachand, PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti, BJP’s Nirmal Singh, Kavinder Gupta and Ravindra Raina, People’s Conference’s Muzaffar Baig and Sajjad Lone, Bhim Singh of Panthers Party, MY Tarigami of CPIM, Altaf Bukhari of JK Apni Party were present.
BJP leader Nirmal Singh said that all the parties agreed during the meeting with Prime Minister Modi that there should be peace in Jammu and Kashmir and a government should come from a democratic government. He said that PM Modi has appealed to all the leaders that peace will come only when everyone works together. Nirmal Singh further said that after the delimitation, further process will start. The Delimitation Commission will discuss with everyone and after that things will move forward.
