New Delhi: The Congress party will start a 10-day nationwide campaign against the hike in oil prices and unemployment from July 7. The Congress said it would hold nationwide protests from July 7 to 17 to highlight the plight of the people and the alleged government apathy towards the people. The decision was taken in a meeting held on Thursday with general secretaries and state in-charges under the chairmanship of party interim president Sonia Gandhi.
"The goal of the party is to create a mass movement."
Congress party will start a nationwide movement of women belonging to Mahila Congress, Youth Congress and other front units at block level and leaders and workers will take out cycle yatras at district level. Politicians and activists will take out processions at the state level with a signature campaign at petrol pumps across the country demanding reduction in petrol and diesel prices.
1.5 lakh Congress workers will be on the fray
The campaign aims to cover around 3 crore houses in 30 days, which is to touch around 12 crore people (average 4 members per family) will do. In which 7199 blocks are included in 7,935 cities of 736 districts. A total of 1,51,340 Congress workers will be in the fray under the campaign.
