Corona has created havoc in the country. More than three crore people have been infected by it, while 3.91 lakh people have died due to this. It has come to the fore in many reports that people lost their livelihood due to Corona, due to which there was a lack of income in each household. People have spent their savings money. In this situation, insurance ie insurance works like an economic act, but the surprising thing is that most of the people of the country are deprived of any kind of insurance cover.
This has been guessed in the Corona period. According to the data, 3.91 lakh people have died due to corona in the country so far. But out of these, only 14 percent of the families of deceased persons have claimed for life insurance. That is, even today people have negligible life insurance in the country. These figures are astonishing.
88 percent claim settled
According to the data, the families of 55,276 people who died of corona have so far filed claims for insurance. Of these, 88 percent of the claims have been settled by the insurance company. That is, about Rs 3593 crore has been given to 88 percent of the total insurance claims. L Alamelu, a member of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), has said this.
On the other hand, people are interested in health insurance in the country. El Alamelu said that till June 22, 19.11 lakh Kovid health claims were made. Of these, 80 percent have been claimed. Accordingly, health insurance companies have paid more than Rs 15,000 crore to 15.39 lakh people in the form of corona health claim.
4% health claims rejected
El Alamelu reported that only 4 percent of health claims were rejected by health insurance companies while 0.66 percent of life claims were rejected by companies. Alamelu says that in this hour of crisis, today we have come to know about the importance of insurance. He said that today we are stuck in such a problem in which we have to spend all the money of our savings.
For many, this problem has brought them below the poverty line. They have had to sell their jewellery, take loans and sell their assets. In view of this unforeseen situation, the insurance companies and the regulator together are moving towards making a new comprehensive policy so that the economic demand of the people can be met in such a situation of epidemic.
