New Delhi: So far 51 cases of Delta Plus variant of Corona have been reported across the country. These cases were registered in a total of 12 states. Out of these, maximum 22 cases have come from Maharashtra. There were 9 cases of Delta Plus in Tamil Nadu. While seven cases have been reported in Madhya Pradesh, three in Kerala, two each in Punjab and Gujarat, one each in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Karnataka.
Ten institutions including NCDC are involved in genome sequencing of corona virus in the country. NCDC Director Sujit Singh said, “The cases of this delta plus are very limited. There are about 50 cases which have been reported in 12 districts and it has happened in the last three months. It cannot be said that in any district or state. It has a tendency to grow…”
Government gave instructions to 8 states
The Union Health Ministry on Friday urged eight states and Union Territories to increase vaccination on a priority basis in districts where delta plus variants of the novel coronavirus have been detected, along with preventive measures such as crowd control, extensive testing. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has suggested these measures in letters to Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat and Haryana.
He also urged the states to ensure that sufficient samples of those found to be COVID infected are immediately sent to the designated laboratories of the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomic Consortia to establish clinical epidemiological correlations.
Bhushan said that the delta plus form of SARS-CoV-2 is located in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh, Surat in Gujarat, Faridabad in Haryana, Katra in Jammu and Kashmir, Bikaner in Rajasthan, Patiala and Ludhiana in Punjab, Mysuru in Karnataka and Chennai in Tamil Nadu. , Madurai and Kanchipuram have been found.
At the same time, more than 50 percent of the samples done in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Telangana and West Bengal have delta variants. 90 percent of the cases of Kovid-19 in India are of B.1.617.2 (Delta) variant. Worrying COVID cases have been found in 174 districts of 35 states/UTs.
