JammuPrime Minister Narendra Modi had called a meeting in Delhi on June 24 to decide the political future of Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was also attended by the President of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, who reached back to Jammu on Friday evening. As soon as he reached Jammu, Ghulam Ahmed Mir called a meeting of senior Congress leaders of the state and gave the details of the meeting with the Prime Minister in Delhi to his leaders.
Ghulam Ahmed said that the most positive aspect of the meeting with the Prime Minister was that the distance between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir has reduced for the first time after the abrogation of Article 370 from the state. He said that after the removal of Article 370 from the state, a series of talks which had completely stopped, at least after this meeting, has opened.
Ghulam Ahmad Mir said that the best thing about this meeting was that the Prime Minister listened to all those politicians with an open mind. Taking a jibe at the Gupkar alliance, Ghulam Ahmad Mir said that all the parties involved in this alliance kept the matter of their respective parties in front of the Prime Minister and not the alliance. Ghulam Ahmed made it clear that he has placed a demand before the Prime Minister that after the completion of the delimitation process in Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir should be given full statehood and after that elections should be held in the state.
Ghulam Ahmed said that if Jammu and Kashmir gets statehood after the completion of the delimitation and elections are held after that, then people will participate in these elections in maximum numbers. He, along with the senior leaders of the state, will inform them about the meeting held with the Prime Minister and after that all these leaders will also consider the future strategy of the Congress.
