New Delhi: The claim being made on social media throughout the day on Saturday became very viral. It was being claimed that the government has decided to give dearness allowance to government employees and pensioners. In order to make the claim look credible and authentic, a copy of an office order was also being shown.
In the order with the signature of Union Finance Secretary TV Soumyanathan, it was written that after the start of the Corona period, the ban on dearness allowance has been lifted. Not only this, it was also claimed that from July 1, the government has decided to release the installment of Dearness Allowance.
Now the Finance Ministry has called this claim completely wrong. The ministry has also termed the copy of the office order which was being shown as fake. The ministry has said in a tweet that the claim being made on social media is false and the government has not issued any such order.
In fact, in the month of April, after the start of the Corona epidemic last year, the Union Cabinet had banned the release of two installments of dearness allowance to government employees. Since the installment of Dearness Allowance is released every six months. Once from January 1 while the second time from July 1. So this ban was for one year. The period of moratorium is now about to end and hence this false claim was also made on social media.
On Saturday itself, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has demanded the government to release dearness allowance. In a tweet, he accused the government that instead of increasing the courage of the government employees during the Corona period, it was sucking the hard earned money of the people. It is not yet known when the government will decide to release it. Usually, dearness allowance, which will be applicable from July 1, is announced just before Durga Puja.
