New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the country for the 78th time today through his monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat. The Prime Minister asked to participate in the ongoing quiz on Olympics on MyGov app in Mann Ki Baat. Along with this, he remembered the death of Milkha Singh. He said that if it is about Olympics then who can forget Milkha Singh ji.
The Prime Minister said, “When it comes to Tokyo Olympics, who can forget a great athlete like Milkha Singh ji! A few days ago, Corona took them away from us. When he was in the hospital, I had the opportunity to talk to him. While talking to him, I urged him. I said that you represented India in 1964 Tokyo Olympics, so this time when our sportspersons are going to Tokyo for Olympics, you have to boost the morale of our athletes, inspire them with your message. ‘
He said, “He was so dedicated and passionate about the game that even in ‘the’ illness he immediately agreed to it but, unfortunately destiny had something else in mind. I still remember that he came to Surat in 2014. We inaugurated a Night Marathon. I was also inspired a lot by the gossip that happened to him at that time, the talk about sports. We all know that Milkha Singh ji’s entire family has been dedicated to sports, making India proud.
Prime Minister Modi said, “When talent, dedication, determination and sportsman spirit come together, then one becomes a champion. In our country, most of the players come from small cities, towns, villages. Our Olympic team going to Tokyo also includes many such players, whose life inspires a lot.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Every player going to Tokyo has had its own struggle, years of hard work. They are going not only for themselves, but for the country. These players also have to increase the pride of India and win the hearts of the people and therefore my countrymen, I want to advise you too, we should not put pressure on these players, knowingly or unknowingly, but with an open mind. To give, to increase the enthusiasm of every player.
Fight against Corona continues, record made in one day
Prime Minister Modi also mentioned the fight against Corona in the Mann Ki Baat program. The Prime Minister said, “The fight of our countrymen against Corona is going on, but in this fight together we are also achieving many extraordinary milestones. Just a few days back our country has done an unprecedented job. The next phase of the vaccine campaign started on June 21 and on the same day the country also made a record of providing free vaccine to more than 86 lakh people and that too in a single day.
The Prime Minister said, “Those who are spreading rumors about the vaccine, let them be. We will all do our bit and ensure that people around us get vaccinated. The threat of COVID-19 remains and we have to follow the COVID-19 protocol along with focusing on vaccination. I urge you all – trust science. Trust our scientists. So many people have taken the vaccine. Let us never believe negative rumors related to vaccines.
