New Delhi: AAP MLA Atishi said on Sunday that the Delhi government has informed the Center that 45 lakh doses would be required in the month of July to maintain the current pace of vaccinating 1.5 lakh people daily in the national capital.
He said, “More than 45 lakh doses will be required to keep up the pace of vaccination.” According to Delhi’s Vaccination Bulletin, 25 percent of people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been given at least one dose. In this age group, 92 lakh people are to be vaccinated.
Atishi said a record 2.07 lakh doses were administered in the national capital on Saturday. Of these, more than 1.5 lakh doses were given to the youth. He said that Delhi currently has 7.06 lakh doses of vaccines available. Of these, there are 5.4 lakh doses of Covishield. If the officials continue to vaccinate at this pace, then this stock will be exhausted in three days.

He said, ‘We have written to the central government that to maintain the pace of giving 1.5 lakh doses daily, Delhi will need 45 lakh doses.’ “We have asked the Center to increase the supply of vaccines for people in the age group of 18 to 44 years as the youth are more enthusiastic about vaccination. They don’t come alone, they bring senior members of the family with them.
Since the introduction of vaccination, more than 73 lakh doses have been given in Delhi so far. Over 17 lakh people have taken both the doses in the national capital.
