Significantly, the Chief Minister of Assam has already made it clear that the state government will take special policy steps to slow down the growth of the minority population, which aims to eradicate poverty and illiteracy.
Earlier he had said, “This is not a political issue, but it is for the betterment of our mothers and sisters and above all, for the welfare of the community.” But “when we go into the bottom of the statistics, we find that the Muslim population is growing at the rate of 29 percent (decade), while the Hindu population is growing at the rate of 10 percent.”
Let us tell you that he had recently said that his government is planning to bring a population policy with two children rule and families who follow it will get benefits under special schemes. Such a rule exists for contesting panchayat elections and for state government jobs.
