New Delhi: The second wave of corona is weakening but its danger still remains. Meanwhile, the Center on Tuesday advised states to focus on a five-pronged strategy for effective COVID-19 management. The Center said that the process of easing restrictions should be carefully decided.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla advised all State Governments and Union Territory Administrations on COVID-19 management for the month of July. It said that the states should regularly monitor the districts where the number of corona virus cases per 10 lakh population is high.
He said that many states have started easing restrictions as the number of cases under treatment for corona virus has come down. Bhalla said that the process of easing restrictions should be carefully planned and prompt and targeted action should be taken by the states in line with the advisory issued by the Union Health Ministry.
“States/UTs should monitor case positivity and number of beds on regular basis, taking districts as administrative units,” the letter said.
five tier strategy
The Home Secretary said that states can consider imposing restrictions for districts with high infection rates and high number of beds. He said, “For effective management of Kovid-19, constant attention should be paid to a five-pronged strategy i.e. testing-infecting-detection-treating-vaccination and following Kovid-appropriate behavior.”
Bhalla said that as emphasized in the previous orders and advisories of the Ministry of Home Affairs, it is important to follow COVID-appropriate behavior to avoid any increase in the number of cases.
The Home Secretary said that while easing the restrictions, it should be ensured that there is no shortfall in following the COVID-appropriate behaviour.
He said, “Therefore, I request you to issue instructions to the districts and all other concerned officers to take necessary measures which have been mentioned in the letter dated 28 June for the management of Kovid-19 by the Ministry of Health. ”
