New Delhi: The Supreme Court has given a verdict on the demand for compensation of four lakhs to the families of the patients who died of corona. The Supreme Court has directed that the government should give compensation to the families of the corona dead. However, the court has not fixed the amount of compensation. The court has also directed to prepare guidelines for giving compensation to the families of the deceased who lost their lives due to corona.
The Supreme Court has ordered that it is the statutory duty of the NDMA to fix the compensation, demanding compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families of those who died of Corona. He has to give instructions to the states within 6 weeks. What will be the amount of compensation, it should be decided by the government itself, because it has to spend many more important expenses. Along with this, the process of getting death certificate should also be simplified.
In a petition filed in the Supreme Court, there has been a demand for financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh from the government to the families of the patients who lost their lives due to corona. During the first hearing on this matter, the central government had called it financially impractical to pay compensation. The government had argued that this would empty the disaster relief fund of the states. The government had said that more than giving financial compensation, the focus is on the arrangements being made to deal with Corona and the welfare of the poor.
