Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has written a letter demanding from the central government that the quota of private hospitals out of the Kovid vaccine received by the state should be reduced from 25 percent earlier to only five percent and 95 percent of the vaccines should be given to the state government. The state government says that neither there is enthusiasm about vaccination in private sector hospitals nor most of the people of the state are in a position to get the vaccine for corona infection by paying money in the private sector.
In a letter written by Arun Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the State Health Department to the Union Health Secretary, it has been said that most of the people of the state are poor and belong to tribal and backward society, in view of which 95 percent vaccine is provided to the state government. The pace of vaccination will also increase in the state. At the same time, fixing 25 percent quota for private hospitals will not allow timely use of the vaccine.
75 percent people live in villages
On the lines of a similar letter written to the Center in the past through the Orissa government, in its letter dated June 28, the Jharkhand government has told the Center that 75 per cent of the people in Jharkhand live in villages, where the number of private hospitals is very less. Vaccination of all these is possible only at the government level. At the same time, more than 37 percent of the population in the state is in the below poverty line category, who are not able to get vaccinated by paying the amount.
Not only this, out of 24 districts in the state, 13 districts come under tribal-dominated areas. Also 19 districts are insurgency affected. It has been said that there is also doubt among people about vaccination in remote rural areas, which the state government is trying to remove, which may not be possible for the private sector. With the help of Sahiya, Anganwadi Sevika-Sahayika, Sakhi Mandal etc., the state government is vaccinating the poor and remote people. In such a situation, it is necessary to get more vaccines for the government sector.
The share of vaccination done in private hospitals is low
According to the guidelines issued by the Central Government, 75 percent of the vaccines that will be produced in the companies will be made available to the states free of cost, while 25 percent of the vaccines will be available for private hospitals. Additional Chief Secretary Singh has also said in his letter that since the start of vaccination in private hospitals in the state from January 30 to April 30, the share of vaccination in private hospitals is only two percent.
It has also been said in the letter that after the meeting with private hospitals on June 16, only three hospitals have so far demanded corona vaccines in limited quantities. On the contrary, if more vaccines are available in the government sector, then the state government can vaccinate even faster. The Central Government has been requested to change this policy soon and provide more and more vaccines to the State Government, so that all the people here can be vaccinated soon.
