Chennai: A big case has come to the fore in IIT Madras regarding caste discrimination. In the latest case, an assistant professor of IIT Madras has on Thursday asked to resign from the institute, saying that he is facing caste discrimination in the institute.
IIT Madras did not respond
However, when the institute was asked whether the assistant professor had formally resigned or had made this allegation in his resignation letter to the institute, IIT Madras did not immediately respond. The prestigious institute said in a statement, ‘There is no response from the institute on this email. Any complaint received from employees or teachers is dealt with immediately through the prescribed process of grievance redressal.’
At present the professor could not be contacted immediately. The widely circulated e-mail on social media was also retweeted by the Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle, an initiative of IIT-M students. The mail said that the institute should constitute a panel to study the experiences of SC and OBC faculty members.
