After the news of Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Shubhendu Adhikari going to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta’s residence for a meeting on Thursday, the whole matter seems to be taking a political colour. Taking an attacking stand on the whole matter, the ruling party of Bengal, Trinamool Congress has written a letter to PM Modi demanding the removal of Tushar Mehta from the post. However, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta made it clear that Shubhendu Adhikari had come to his residence, but he did not meet with them.
Abhishek Banerjee’s question to Tushar Mehta
On this statement made by Tushar Mehta, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee has raised questions. He has tweeted a video of Shubhendu Adhikari’s convoy leaving Tushar Banerjee’s residence on Friday. Simultaneously, he questioned – his attempt to dismiss the secret meeting with Shubhendu Adhikari can be considered valuable only if he does not make public all the CCTV footage till Shubhendu’s stay in the house. He questioned whether he was present at the residence of the Solicitor General without prior appointment.
Reports state that Mr Adhikari entered Hon’ble SG’s residence in the presence of a cavalcade of officers and stayed there for nearly 30 minutes. Does that imply that a meeting was indeed due?
As the episode gets murkier, one can only hope that the truth shall surface. (2/2) pic.twitter.com/MiVeCz5CB1

In another tweet, Abhishek Banerjee said – The report states that Shubhendu Adhikari’s convoy entered in the presence of officers and they stayed there for about 30 minutes. Does this mean that a meeting was actually about to take place? As this episode becomes more obscure, one can only hope that the truth will emerge.
Tushar Mehta said – Shubhendu came but I did not meet
Here, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta has given clarification on these allegations of TMC. He said- “Shubhendu Adhikari came to my residence/office yesterday. I had a pre-scheduled meeting and my staff asked them to wait. After the meeting my staff told him that I was unable to meet. He went back without insisting on meeting me. There is no question of meeting him.”
