New Delhi: Both doses of Kovid vaccines protect against the risk of epidemic death by about 98 percent, while a single dose protects about 92 percent. The government said this on Friday, citing a study conducted on police personnel in Punjab.
This study has been done by the Chandigarh-based Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in collaboration with the Punjab Government.
Sharing the data of the study, Dr. VK Paul, Member (Health) of NITI Aayog said that 4868 policemen were not vaccinated and 15 of them died due to corona virus infection, which is 3.08 cases per thousand.
He said in a press conference, then out of 35856 police personnel who had taken the first dose of vaccine, nine died, this figure is 0.25 per thousand. At the same time, a total of 42720 policemen took both the doses of vaccines and out of these only two died, which is equivalent to 0.05 cases per thousand.
Paul said, “Policemen fall in the high-risk group. From these data, we found that a single dose of the anti-Covid vaccine provides 92 percent protection against death, while both doses provide 98 percent protection.
He said, “Such studies and their results show that vaccination eliminates cases of serious illness and death. So trust vaccines because they are effective and should be vaccinated.”
