New Delhi: NITI Aayog member (health) Dr VK Paul has said that the second wave of corona is not over yet. Whether the third wave will come or not is in our hands. There will be preparations for the third wave. If we are disciplined, have firm determination then this wave will not come. He said that the chain of transmission has to be stopped there. Cases are big in Europe. Corona cases have increased in UK, Israel, Russia. The fight against this virus is still going on.
In the press conference on Friday, the Union Health Ministry said that there is a decrease in cases in India. Cases have come down in a week. More than 100 cases are coming in 100 districts of the country. Active cases are decreasing every day. Now there are only 5,09,637 active cases. At the same time, there has been a continuous increase in the recovery rate in the country and now it is 97%. Case positivity is more than 10% in 71 districts. We are still battling with the second wave.
“Vaccine giving protection”
Dr VK Paul said that a study was done on the policemen of Punjab which PGI did. 4868 policemen did not get any vaccine and 15 died. Death occurred at 3 per thousand. 35,856 policemen got one dose and only 9 died. 0.25 per thousand 42,720 got both the doses and only 2 died. They are giving protection from the vaccine at 0.05 per one thousand. 98 protection is available from single 92 and double.
Paul said on Zydus Cadila Vaccine, ‘The application of Zydus is with DCGI. The evaluation process is being done by the Subject Expert Committee. We hope that a quick and positive decision will be taken because this vaccine is a proud moment for us. Unique technology is the first in the world. If this vaccine emerges from all scientific parameters, then due to this, there will be a lot of speed and energy in our vaccine program. We are waiting for it. They haven’t told us about the price yet. This has to be known from them only.
