According to the country’s Cyber Security Coordinator, Le General (Re) Rajesh Pant, the third largest number of cyber attacks in the world are happening against India. Where the Kovid-19 pandemic has increased cyber attacks and threats. It is necessary that everyone from the security system to the common people should take precautions against it. In such a situation, there is a wait for the implementation of India’s National Cyber Security Policy.
During an event organized on cyber security, General Pant said that in the midst of the Kovid-19 crisis, cyber attacks have increased and many vulnerabilities have been exposed and many solutions have also come to the fore. He told that after the power crisis in Mumbai last year, the Ministry of Power has formed separate Computer Emergency Response Teams for its various departments and especially for power generation, distribution etc.
Along with this, amidst the threats of cyber breaches from China, the availability of reliable equipment in India and especially before government procurement has also started the exercise of certification. According to Lt Gen (R) Pant, along with Telecom, the Defense and Power Ministries have also shown interest in certification before purchasing their equipment.
However, there is also the danger that organized criminal organizations are also involved in cyber crimes. General Pant said that all the groups like D-Company are engaged in cyber burglary and criminal activities. However, he did not clarify how the country’s most wanted criminal Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company is trying to harm India in the world of cybercrime. Keep in mind that last year, a businessman in Ghatkopar area of Mumbai had a ransom call by Faheem Machmach, a member of the D-Company gang. At the same time, it was revealed in the investigation of this case that this call was made through voice internet protocol.
The role of mobile phones in most cases
In the latest trend of cyber crimes, it has also come to the fore that the role of mobile phones has come to the fore in most of the cases. However, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center working under the Union Home Ministry is working exclusively on mobile forensics so that crimes can be detected.
Cyber security experts warn that there are 15 ways through which the phone can be easily hacked. According to General Pant, it is necessary that during the Kovid crisis, hygiene is taken care of for physical health, as well as hygiene should be taken care of for cyber security as well.
Cyber security experts also recommend making cyber security courses accessible for mobile use and implementing a cyber belt scheme in offices. According to experts, like judo, there is a need to make classifications like white, blue, red and black belts on the basis of computer and cyber capabilities. In which professionals can be prepared on the basis of cyber capabilities.
