New Delhi: What steps should be taken by India to deal with the corona virus epidemic, it has been mentioned in the report of Lancet published on Friday. The report said that India needs to adopt a ‘flexible’ and ‘agile’ vaccination strategy. The report also highlights the importance of central site based surveillance with the help of Test Positivity Ratio (TPR).
The Lancet report was published in its monthly open access Global Health magazine titled ‘Responsive and Agal Vaccination Strategy Against COVID-19 in India’. It describes how even limited vaccination resources can be used flexibly.
A flexible, agile immunization strategy plays a vital role in saving lives and livelihoods
For this, the report cited the experience of previous influenza pandemics in 1918 and 2009. Along with this, told about the current corona virus epidemic in many other countries where there have been more than two waves of infection. The report states that “a flexible, agile immunization strategy can play an important role in protecting lives and livelihoods amid the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Use of community halls and parking spaces for drive-in vaccinations
According to the Lancet report, community-based outreach activities as well as transport facilities for the elderly in different areas can help reduce the distance between the vaccination center and its beneficiaries. These outreach activities include setting up of Satellite Vaccination Centers near habitations in rural settings, arranging vaccinations for nearby people on behalf of Resident Welfare Associations in urban areas, drive-in vaccinations using large community halls and parking spaces, etc. Huh.
Active participation of community based organizations
The report said that the active participation of community-based organizations for this purpose is the key to achieving a flexible COVID-19 vaccination strategy. Such measures will help in expediting vaccination while maintaining safety. In addition, the report said that giving a single dose of the Kovid-19 vaccine helps prevent the spread of infection and saves people from hospitalization. Along with this, the mortality rate can be reduced to a great extent by rapidly vaccinating the strategy.
