Raj Ki Baat: Political struggle is relentless in Devbhoomi. This struggle is not about asura. Not even between two parties. The real war on the mountain is within the parties. Conflicts and internal conflicts and rebellions are the permanent character of both the major parties BJP and Congress in Uttarakhand. Since coming into existence after separating from Uttar Pradesh, there is a constant struggle for leadership within both the parties here. BJP is in power now, due to internal tussle, Trivendra Singh Rawat first went there and now Tirath Singh Rawat’s departure was due to alleged constitutional crisis. In Raj Ki Baat, we had told about the departure of Tirath only last week.
Other leaders of Uttarakhand Congress have become active against this siege of Rawat. The current state president Pritam Singh, who is from the scheduled caste, became active immediately. He reached Delhi against Rawat’s efforts to replace Pritam Singh as the leader of the legislature party in place of Indira Hridayesh. He has also presented his side by meeting Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi. Not only this, another senior leader of Uttarakhand Congress Kishore Upadhyay has also reached Delhi. His claim as a Brahmin face for the state president is strong. As a Brahmin face after Indira Hridayesh, he is definitely a veteran and a big leader.
What sparks Kishore and Pritam Singh’s meeting with Priyanka, now time will decide. But the Congress does not want to let this happen, changing the history of Uttarakhand’s change in power due to this head-football. It will be interesting to see what the solution turns out to be.
