Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah-led People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD or Gupkar Alliance) has said that assembly elections should be held only after Jammu and Kashmir’s full statehood is restored. The coalition said that the BJP-led central government should honor its promise made in Parliament on this subject.
PAGD spokesperson and CPI(M) leader MY Tarigami said in the statement, “As far as full statehood of Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, it was promised by the BJP in Parliament and they should honor their word.”
He said, “For this, the PAGD has decided to talk to other political parties of Jammu and Kashmir so that a common stand can be made on this issue.” On Sunday evening, his residence under the chairmanship of National Conference President Farooq Abdullah. It was told that the meeting was attended by the coalition’s vice president and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, Tarigami, National Conference leader Hasnain Masoodi, People’s Movement chief Javed Mustafa Mir and Awami National Conference senior vice president Muzaffar Ahmed Shah. The spokesman said that this meeting was called to discuss about the all-party meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on June 24.
