Former President Pranab Mukherjee’s son Abhijit Mukherjee on Monday left the Congress and joined the ruling party Trinamool Congress in West Bengal led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Abhijit Mukherjee’s going to TMC was not liked by his sister Sharmistha Mukherjee at all. After this, Sharmistha tweeted and termed it as ‘sad’.
Abhijeet accuses Congress of ignoring
On the other hand, Abhijit Mukherjee, joining the Trinamool Congress, accused himself of being ignored within the Congress. He said that he was not included in any group other than the primary membership in the Congress nor was given any other position. Abhijeet said that therefore he is associated with Trinamool Congress like a soldier and will work as per the directions of the party. He said that he would work to uphold integrity and secularism.

Abhijeet praises CM Mamata Banerjee
Abhijit Mukherjee further said- “The way CM Mamata Banerjee has stopped the communal wave of BJP recently, after that I believe that she will be able to stop it in the same way across the country.” Abhijit Mukherjee contested and won from Jangipur Lok Sabha seat in Bengal on a Congress ticket in the years 2012 and 2014. In the year 2019 also, Congress gave him a ticket from this seat but he could not succeed in winning.
Recently, Abhijit Banerjee supported CM Mamta Banerjee in the fake vaccine scandal. He wrote on Twitter, “It is not right to hold West Bengal and Mamta Banerjee responsible for the wrong actions of a particular person. If this is so, then Prime Minister Narendra Modi can also be held responsible for the cases related to Mehul Choksi, Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya.
