New Delhi: To increase revenue and crack down on liquor mafia, the Delhi government announced a new excise policy, under which customers will now be allowed to ‘walk-in’ in liquor contracts. Steps have been taken to enhance the experience of beer, promote smaller units making beer and allow bars of hotels, clubs and restaurants to open till 3 pm.

However, the policy document does not mention the home delivery of alcohol and the legal drinking age, which is part of the excise rules. The legal drinking age was proposed to be reduced from 25 years to 21 years as in neighboring cities.

Bars in restaurants and clubs to open till 3 pm
Under the new reforms, bars in hotels, restaurants and clubs have been allowed to operate till 3 pm in the late night. These do not include licensees who have been given a license to sell liquor round the clock.
As per the new excise policy of the Delhi government, the people of the national capital will soon be able to visit five super premium liquor retail outlets and choose from the best brands of liquor and these places will also have a wine tasting room. Excise Policy has introduced a new category of Retailer License – L-7SP1, also known as Super Premium License, to provide international quality retailer ‘‘customers with high level walk-in experience’’ can give.
