In West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will stage a sit-in protest against the rising fuel prices in the country on July 10 and 11, following all the COVID rules. On Monday, TMC leader Partha Chatterjee gave information about this. Chatterjee said, “Dharna demonstrations will be held in every block and city of West Bengal on July 10 and July 11 against the hike in fuel prices, following all the COVID protocols.”
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that due to the extreme jump in prices, people have suffered a lot. Petrol and diesel prices have increased eight times since May, of which six were in June only. Banerjee on Monday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reduce the tax imposed by the central government on petrol and diesel.

Your government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel eight times since 4th May 2021. The prices have been increased six times in the month of June and four times in a week, it is shocking. He also said in a letter to PM Modi that from the year 2014-15, you have a government, the Government of India has got a 370 percent jump in tax collection from oil and petroleum products. Showing sympathy towards the common people, the government of West Bengal has given a discount in the prices of both petrol and diesel. He alleged that in the midst of this Kovid epidemic, the Government of India has collected revenue of Rs 3.71 lakh crore from oil and petroleum products in the financial year 2020-21.
