Mumbai: BJP protested in the Mumbai Assembly over the suspension of its 12 MLAs and the issue of OBC reservation. Along with this, BJP MLAs also started a parallel assembly session outside the house in protest. In the Maharashtra Legislative Council, LOP Praveen Darekar announced that Kalidas Kolambkar would be the Speaker in the session. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis are also involved in this protest.

12 BJP MLAs met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and asked for ‘‘crushing democracy’’ For complained against MVA Govt. The MLAs, led by BJP’s chief whip Ashish Shelar in the state assembly, submitted a memorandum denying the ‘false’ allegations of misbehavior against the presiding officer. The state government has accused 12 MLAs of ‘misbehaving’ Jadhav in the Speaker’s chamber. After which he was suspended for one year.
What did Fadnavis say on the whole matter?
Devendra Fadnavis said, ‘This is a false allegation and an attempt to reduce the number of opposition members. This was done because we have exposed the government’s lies on OBC quota in local bodies. He said that BJP members did not abuse the presiding officer. Fadnavis said, ‘It is the Shiv Sena MLAs who used abusive words. I had brought my MLAs out of the Speaker’s chamber. Former Chief Minister Fadnavis claimed that the matter ended with Shelar apologizing. Jadhav’s description of the incident is ‘one-sided’.
