Delhi government has issued a new excise policy. After the new policy, there will no longer be any long lines, crowds and scuffles outside liquor contracts. Under the new policy, customers will now be allowed to ‘walk-in’ on liquor contracts in the city. Facility will be available.
Let’s know what the new excise policy issued
1- Customers will not be allowed to crowd outside the shop or on the footpath and make purchases from the counter. Every customer will be allowed to go inside the shop and inside the shop they will be able to choose the brand of liquor of their choice. The entire process of buying liquor will be completed inside the shop premises.
2- The shops will be air conditioned, have glass doors and should have proper lighting. CCTV cameras should be installed inside and outside all the shops and the shopkeeper must keep the camera recording of at least 1 month.
3- Till now the venue owner had to obtain a temporary license to serve liquor when organizing a wedding, party or any event in a banquet hall, farm house, motel, party place. Now banquet halls, farm houses, motels will be able to serve country and foreign liquor in their parties organized here after paying the annual fee once through the new L-38 license.
4- No provisional license is required. Venues where many events are held will be required to take this license. If a banquet hall or farm house does not have a regular license, then they will have to pay a fee of Rs 50,000 per event for a one time P-10E license.
5- Bars in hotels, restaurants and clubs have been allowed to open till 3 pm. However, these do not include licensees who have been given a license to sell liquor 24 hours a day. Microbrewery will allow customers to draft beer in a bottle or growler. However, wherever draft beer is served as a take-away, information and signage about the short shelf life of the beer should be given and the expiry date should be clearly marked on the bottles.
6- Domestic and Foreign Liquor Retail Shops (L-7V) can be opened anywhere in any market, mall, commercial areas, local shopping complex.
