Bhopal: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to reshuffle and expand the first cabinet of his second term. In this, Jyotiraditya Scindia, the head of the Scindia royal family, is believed to be a minister. If this happens, then he will be the first man from this prestigious royal family to join any non-Congress cabinet of independent India, although the daughter of this family, Vasundhara Raje has been a foreign minister, but she does politics in Rajasthan whose in-laws are in the Dholpur royal family. She has also been the Chief Minister of Rajasthan.
Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia was MLA from Gwalior Chambal zone and in 1956 Madhya Pradesh was formed in place of Madhya Bharat, even after that she continued to dominate the Congress in this zone, but in 1967 she clashed with the then Chief Minister DP Mishra. It increased so much that Rajmata left the party revolting with more than two dozen MLAs of her supporters. Due to this the government of Egypt fell. With the help of Rajmata, the first non-Congress government was formed in the state. Govind Narayan Singh of Satna became its Chief Minister. This government did not last long but Rajmata joined the Jana Sangh and then stayed with this ideology throughout her life.
In 2014, Scindia was re-elected from Guna but lost that seat to Krishan Pal Singh Yadav in 2019. This was a big setback for the Scindia family. He could not recover from this and eventually toppled the Kamal Nath-led government after resigning from his supporting MLAs and then joined the BJP. The ruling Congress in the state was reduced to a minority and the opposition BJP in the majority due to the outright resignation, as a result of which the BJP government was again formed in the state after fifteen months under the leadership of Shivraj Singh.
