PM Modi Cabinet Expansion: Of the 43 MPs elected to PM Modi’s expanded cabinet and to MoS posts, 34 took oath in Hindi, irrespective of the region they represent. The induction ceremony at the Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan saw the full attendance of 43 new ministers, who were yet to be administered by the Prime Minister to serve as the closest counsel.
Along with President Ram Nath Kovind, PM Narendra Modi, and top ministers like newly appointed, HM Amit Shah, FM Nirmala Sitharaman and Textiles Minister Smriti Irani in the central government were present. Before a team of 43 new ministers could join PM Modi’s aid visit, an impeachment ceremony was held to formally confer ministerial berths to the MPs and administer an oath of secrecy to them. A thumping majority of 34 ministers read the oath in Hindi.
Not only representatives of states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh or Delhi, but also ministers of linguistically diverse states like Tripura, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Arunachal Pradesh were appointed by administering oath in Hindi. Tripura’s first woman Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik is included in this list. It includes 13 cabinet ministers and 30 ministers of state.
