Kolkata: A veteran warrior of the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal and MP from Bankura, Subhash Sarkar has been the man who handled the management of the saffron party in the state for a long time. On Wednesday, the government was included in the Union Cabinet.
The government won the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 from Bankura by defeating Trinamool Congress stalwart and state government’s Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee.
Sarkar, who was the vice-president of the state BJP since 2013, was a contender for the post of president in 2015, but was instead made the general secretary. Sarkar, known as a person of the organization, was once again made the vice-president of the party’s state unit in 2017.
Sarkar had also contested elections from Bankura parliamentary constituency in 2014 but he was defeated. After five years, he won from this seat and where the party got 20 percent votes in 2014, it got 29 percent votes in 2019.
Let us tell you that Sarkar, born in 1953, is a doctor by profession and is a resident of Bankura. He is also a member of the Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare as well as the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy.
