New Delhi: After major changes in the Union Cabinet by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mansukh Mandaviya was on Wednesday appointed as the new Health Minister and bureaucrat-turned-politician Ashwini Vaishnav was made the new Railway Minister, while Jyotiraditya Scindia was appointed Found the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath to 15 cabinet ministers and 28 ministers of state at a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Wednesday evening. This is the first reshuffle in the Council of Ministers after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge for a second term in May 2019.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister removed 12 ministers including Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, IT and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar from the Council of Ministers.
The Ministry of Education will be headed by Dharmendra Pradhan. He will also take charge of skill development and entrepreneurship. Ram Chandra Prasad Singh of Janata Dal (United) (JDU) will be the Steel Minister, while Pashupati Kumar Paras has been made Food Processing Industries Minister and Kiren Rijiju has been made Law and Justice Minister. Hardeep Singh Puri will take charge of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Housing and Urban Affairs. Narayan Rane has been given the responsibility of Ministry of Small, Micro and Medium Entrepreneurship and Sarbananda Sonowal has been given the responsibility of Ministry of Shipping, Shipping, Waterways and AYUSH.
Virendra Kumar will be Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Bhupender Yadav will be Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Minister of Labor and Employment and G Kishan Reddy will take charge of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region."text-align: justify;">Earlier, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region was earlier with Jitendra Singh as independent charge. The ministry has now got a cabinet rank minister. Pralhad Joshi will be Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Minister of Coal and Minister of Mines.
