New Delhi: The representation of backward classes, dalits, tribal communities and women has been increased in the Union Council of Ministers in a comprehensive reshuffle and expansion on Wednesday. But no Muslim face was included. Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is the sole representative of the community in the Union Cabinet. However, five ministers, including Amit Shah, are from the minority community.
BJP’s Rajya Sabha member Zafar Islam was one of the aspirants but did not find a place, while after MJ Akbar’s resignation, there was speculation that a person from the community might be included. Congress spokesperson Meem Afzal said, “There should be no hope from the BJP, as the second largest minority is not on their agenda.”
The Muslim leaders of the society also have the same opinion. Majlis-e-Mushawarat President Naved Hamid said, “Muslims don’t expect anything from the BJP except they follow the constitutional mandate. The more they ignore, the more they discriminate, the more they lose their lives.” Prejudice and vicious agenda are exposed. They are against the most oppressed, most marginalized and most discriminated community in the country. Even if they have given any other representation, Indians have worked for the betterment of the community. Would not have expected any good from a Muslim person.”
