Swami, suffering from many diseases, was also found infected with the corona virus in custody. However, since the death of Stan Swamy, the Indian government is getting criticism from abroad. Meanwhile, a federal US body has condemned the willful neglect by the Indian government. The body has said that Stan Swamy died because of this.
Nadine Menza, president of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), said in a statement, “Father Stan Swamy’s death is a stark reminder of the serious and ongoing persecution of India’s religious minority communities.” The USCIRF strongly condemns the willful neglect and targeting by the Indian government that led to the death of Father Stan Swamy.

Nadine Menza has urged the United States to hold the Indian government accountable and to raise religious freedom concerns in US-India bilateral relations. Rejecting growing international criticism for its handling of Swamy’s case, India on Tuesday said the authorities concerned take action against violations of the law and do not prevent the legitimate exercise of rights.

Let us inform that Pastor Stan Swamy, an accused in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist relationship case, was arrested by the NIA from Ranchi in October 2020 under UAPA and kept in Navi Mumbai’s Taloja Central Jail. He suffered a heart attack and died at a hospital in Mumbai on Monday. He was fighting to be granted bail on health grounds.
