Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi took a jibe at the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh over the heavy violence and police lathi charge during the nomination for the post of district block chief. Priyanka, while attacking the central and state government, termed it even as ‘the rip-off of democracy’.
Priyanka Gandhi tweeted and said- ‘Congratulations PM and CM sahib also for how many places your workers have bombed, fired and stone pelted in UP. How many people’s cards were looted, how many journalists were beaten up and in how many places they misbehaved with women. By blindfolding the law and order, democracy is being dismantled.
Congratulations to PM sahib and CM sahib also for this

Significantly, in many places in UP, there has been a huge uproar and scuffle between the two groups. There was a lot of ruckus during the nomination in Gorakhpur. BJP candidate Vandana Singh and her supporters, who came to enroll in Chargawan block of Shahpur area, were attacked by an already existing mob. The mob beat up the candidate supporters. About half a dozen luxury vehicles were also destroyed. The police dispersed the crowd by lathi-charge.
A scuffle broke out between two groups during the nomination for the post of block chief in Siana of Bulandshahr. Siana’s CO said, “Two parties came together for nomination. There was an altercation between their supporters. The matter was pacified. There was no conflict between the two sides over any issue.”
During the enrollment in Gaur block of Basti, the police lathi-charged fiercely. Police beat up BJP workers. It is alleged that many police vehicles have been damaged. From here Jata Shankar Shukla of BJP is in the fray. Mahesh Singh is fighting in protest.
