Health Emergency Package: As part of preparations to deal with the possible third wave of Corona, the Modi government on Thursday announced a new Corona Emergency Package. An important aspect of this package of Rs 23,220 crore is the focus on children. This package was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman about a week ago, which got the approval of the cabinet on Thursday.
- In the next few months, 2,44,000 corona beds are to be prepared across the country.
- Along with this, there is a target to prepare 20000 ICU beds.
- These ICU beds will be made in such a way that 20 percent of the beds can be used for children.
- A target has also been set to establish Pediatrics Care Units in 736 districts of the country.
In this package, a contribution of Rs 15000 crore will be made by the Center, while Rs 8000 crore will be contributed by the states. Under this, there is also a provision to build 5000 and 2500 bedded field hospitals in the districts where there is a high number of corona. One of the big things about the package is that 10000 liters of oxygen storage capacity will be developed in every district hospital of the country. A severe lack of oxygen was felt during the second wave.
The money allocated under the package is planned to be spent before March 31. Last year too, the government had spent Rs 15,000 crore under a similar scheme. The benefit of the package was that the number of oxygen beds in the country increased from 50 thousand to 4 lakh.
