New Delhi: In Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet, the new Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has changed the working hours of the officers and employees in the Minister’s Office as soon as he took charge on Thursday. The Railway Minister has ordered the staff to work in two shifts. The first shift will start at 7 am and end at 4 pm while the second shift will start at 3 pm and will end at 12 midnight. Apart from this, 94 batch IAS officer Ashwini Vaishnav is also deliberating on taking several steps to increase the earnings of the Railways.
Ashwini Vaishnav took charge as the new IT Minister and Railways Minister of India
Rajya Sabha member from Odisha Ashwini Vaishnav on Thursday took charge of the Ministry of Electronics and IT and Railways. Has also taken charge of the ministry. Vaishnav replaced Ravi Shankar Prasad in both the ministries. Prasad was handling the IT ministry since 2016 apart from handling the communications department from 2019.
A former IAS officer of 1994 batch, Vaishnav has held important responsibilities over the last 15 years and was particularly known for his contribution to the PPP framework. He holds an MBA degree from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MTech degree from IIT Kanpur. Vaishnav has held leadership roles in leading global companies such as General Electric and Siemens.
