Fake Covid-19 Vaccine Case: The Calcutta High Court today dismissed all the PILs seeking a CBI probe into the fake vaccine racket. Dismissing the petitions, a division bench headed by Justices IP Mukherjee and Aniruddha Roy said that the time is not right for the court to intervene in the matter.
Ever since the fake vaccine camp in Garia was busted by TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty and alleged fraudster Debanjan Deb’s links with the ruling party came to the fore, the BJP has accused the TMC of serious corruption and serious abuse of public health. In this case, advocate Sandipan Das had filed a public interest litigation on June 25, seeking a CBI inquiry into the matter to bring more transparency and accountability.
refusal to entertain the petition
However, the HC refused to entertain the petition. The Calcutta High Court on Friday refused to interfere for the time being in the probe into the fake COVID-19 vaccination camps allegedly set up by accused Debanjan Deb in the metropolis and its suburbs.
In the matter, a division bench headed by Justice IP Mukherjee said that if there is any cause for dissatisfaction with the investigation being conducted by Kolkata Police, the petitioners can move the court later. A bench of Justice Aniruddha Roy said it was not inclined to interfere in the investigation of the matter at this stage.
