Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday, July 8, visited the residence of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly and wished him a happy birthday. After this, now West Bengal BJP state president Dilip Ghosh says that BJP has no objection to former Indian cricket team captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly being made MP from TMC.
Dilip Ghosh has now fueled the speculation which was just a whisper and has now become public through his statement. “Generally politicians don’t do anything without political gains,” he said. Sourav is the symbol of West Bengal. It is good that Mamata Banerjee has met him on his birthday. He should take care of famous people outside politics and they should also be respected.
Ganguly had refused to enter politics
Actually, in the recently held Bengal elections, BJP was trying to bring Sourav Ganguly to its side. At that time, Ganguly had clearly refused to come into the field of politics. BJP wanted Sourav Ganguly to contest against Mamata Banerjee. In such a situation, now after the meeting of Mamta, there is speculation that Sourav Ganguly may join TMC.
This is the first time that TMC supremo and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has stepped into Ganguly’s house in Behala. During this he spent more than 45 minutes. Let us tell you that there is a very good relationship between Mamta Banerjee and Sourav Ganguly. In January this year, when Sourav Ganguly suffered a heart attack, Banerjee also went to the hospital to take care of him. Mamta has played a big role in making Sourav the President of Cricket Association of Bengal.
