New Delhi: The CBI today raided 14 locations of several officials including the Vice-Chancellor of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in connection with the alleged rigging of the recognition of institutions affiliated to it. These raids were done in Dehradun, Srinagar apart from Noida. Many important documents have been recovered during this raid.
According to CBI spokesperson RC Joshi, the people who were raided in this case include Vice Chancellor JL Kaul, Vice Chancellor’s Officer on Special Duty DS Negi, besides Anil Saini, Arvind Gupta, GDS Warne, Sanjay Chaudhary, Joginder Singh, Samay Pvt. Institute is included. According to the CBI, a case of preliminary investigation was registered in this case on the basis of the complaint.
This inquiry was done regarding the malpractices committed between the tenure of the Vice-Chancellor from 2014 to 2016. In this case, it was alleged that other institutions affiliated to this university were given their beliefs and other benefits by keeping all the rules and regulations in mind. It is also alleged that due to this rigging, the accused got benefits illegally.

On getting important facts during the preliminary investigation done in this case, CBI had registered a total of 6 cases under various criminal sections against the then Vice Chancellor and other officials and different private institutions in this case. Under this, the raid was conducted today. According to the CBI, the keys of lockers kept in several banks have also been recovered during this raid, which are yet to be opened. The CBI will soon call the accused in this case for questioning.
